Implementation of Goal 12 will allow to:
-
enable implementation of ten-year programs on sustainable consumption and production for all countries, with developed countries taking the lead, taking into account their level of development and opportunities;
- ensure sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources.
- reduce the global amount of food wasted per person in retail sales and consumption, and reduce food losses in production and distribution process, including losses during harvest;
- ensure stable and ecological management of chemicals and all waste throughout their entire life cycle;
- encourage companies, especially large and international ones, to implement sustainable development practices and include information on this subject in their periodic reports;
- provide access to relevant information and raise awareness of all people around the world regarding sustainable development and lifestyle in harmony with nature.
- empower developing countries to build their scientific and technological capacity to create more sustainable consumption and production patterns;
- develop sustainable tourism that creates jobs and promotes local culture and products;
- rationalize inefficient fossil fuel subsidies that encourage unnecessary consumption by removing market failures, in line with national circumstances, including through tax restructuring and phasing out harmful subsidies where they exist, taking note of their environmental impact, taking fully into account specific needs and conditions of developing countries and minimize possible adverse impacts on their development, in a way that protects poor and vulnerable communities.
