Protect, restore and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainable forest management, combat desertification, stop and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
Implementation of Goal 15 will allow to:
ensure protection, restoration, and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and other ecosystems, in particular forests, wetlands, dry areas, and mountains;
reduce deforestation process and restore damaged forests;
combat desertification and restore degraded areas and soils;
ensure the protection of mountain ecosystems;
promote fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the use of genetic resources and enabling
access to them;
end poaching and trade in protected animal and plant species;
increase financial resources from various sources for the protection and sustainable use of biodiversity and ecosystems.
