Promote peaceful and inclusive societies, ensure access to justice for all people, and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
Implementation of Goal 16 will allow to:
reduce levels of violence in all forms and associated mortality rates around the world;
promote the rule of law at national and international levels and ensure equal access to justice for all;
reduce illicit financial flows and arms trade; strengthen the recovery and return of stolen property and combat all forms of organized crime;
reduce corruption and bribery in all forms;
expand and strengthen the participation of developing countries in the global institutions of international legal order;
provide legal identity for all, including birth registrations;
strengthen relevant national institutions, through international cooperation, and build capacity at all levels, in particular in developing countries, to prevent violence and combat terrorism and crime.
